Growing in Unity - Day 1

Hello Unity friends! This is my first time ever being a Growing in Unity Girl for Unity Stamp Company, so I'm excitedly nervous about this week! I even started a crafty blog (with the help of my fifteen year-old daughter) for the occasion! I hope you enjoy the projects I will be sharing with you all this week. And don't forget to comment each day for a chance to win one of two $20 Unity gift credits to be awarded at the end of my week.

For today's project I'm sharing a fun card I made. As soon as I saw this stamp set I just KNEW I needed it. And I knew I wanted to make it look like a little fairy house. I used Cozy Cottage and Flourish Wonder for the card below.

For my card I started with a square panel of 80 Lb Neenah Classic Crest Solar White card stock and my 4" round Gel Press (which I've only played with once before!). I used a mini ink blending tool to put some Wilted Violet and Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide inks onto the gel plate and then mixed a little Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide and water together and used a fan brush to splatter a little of that mixture onto the gel plate. Then I pressed my card stock panel on top and smoothed my fingers over it to pick up all that ink and texture. I wish I had thought to snap a photo before I stamped on top of it!

After the ink on my card panel was dry I inked up Cozy Cottage with VersaFine Onyx Black ink and then embossed the image with Brutus Monroe Fairy Dust embossing powder for a little sparkle. I used the gel printed circle behind the house as the main color for the house and added the details to the house with Sakura Gelly Roll pens. The roof, windows, and shrub are their stardust pens, while the the trim, door, and stones are all their metallic pens.

Next I pulled out the gorgeous Flourish Wonder background stamp and inked it up with Stormy Sky Distress Oxide ink. I stamped sections of it around the outside of the house for some added interest. I trimmed my card panel to 4-1/2" square and then ink blended more of the Stormy Sky around the outside edges to soften up the stark white border. The stamped card panel was then glued to a 5" square piece of purple brushed metal card stock, mounted on a piece of fun foam, and then glued onto a 5-1/2" square card base made of 110 Lb Neenah Classic Crest card stock. I finished it off with a few Studio Katia Iridescent Bubbles.

I hope you liked today's card and the rest of the projects I have in store for you this week. Don't forget to comment below! Cheers!
